Building the Terrace Pond Floating Walkway

Now we begin the assembly of the walkway's components. The first unit we assembled was the near-end "platform". This would be where hikers would arrive via a gangway, so it was about double the size of the rest of the walkway's sections.

The cubes had flanges at different heights that fitted together to make a stack. The bottom flange was fitted with a "slide on nut" (the black part you see there). Then a threaded "pin" as run down through the stack of flanges to engage the black nut on the bottom. A special tool (a "key") was used to screw in the pin and tighten it place, locking all the blocks tightly together.
